Hypertext Markup Language – HTML

What is HTML?

HTML: or (Hyper Text Markup Language) is a computer based language, that allows for websites to be visibly or audibly displayed. It was created by Tim Berners-Lee, who was a physicist who was looking for a better way to share ideas between large distances, and so HTML was created in 1991.

HTML has changed the way websites were created from looking like traditional microsoft word documents to the creation of artistic displays, when used in conjunction with other software languages. As the world advances in technology, understanding HTML becomes that more useful of a language to possess.

More users are creating their own businesses and platforms and need people to help them design the website they dreamed of. While the importance of designing an appealing website can not be understated, for example this article suggests that “38% of users will stop engaging in a website if the content/layout is unattractive”, while “48% of people cited a website’s design as the number one factor in deciding the credibility of a business” This is an interesting find as this article states that almost half the population decide that if a website is not appealing they will deem the business to be less likely to be credible, yet less than 0.5% of the population know how to design them. This gap of knowledge is why it is such an important industry to get into, as there will be few people who possess the skills I hope to achieve.
